Hello. Day 6. John Day to Baker City. 81.1miles. 4,715 feet of climbing.
Not as hard a day as yesterday. But not “easy” by any means.
Three climbs, fast descents, little traffic, great views.
I think this has been the prettiest day so far.
On the downside: strong headwind into Baker City, and no one to ride with to take turns breaking wind—so to speak. Smoke from a “prescribed burn” beside the road for about 5 miles.
Quite a few riders have commented about how beautiful Oregon is. And big!
Currently 84 deg here. Cooler than the 96 that Portland had.
